A Relaxing Mom's Day Out

How did you single-handedly balance everything? That’s the most common question I always encountered. As a single mom, I must admit that it’s been really hard juggling everything and I’m just really glad right now that I was able to cope up and adjust my uptight schedule. Instead of spending my Saturday in the office for OT, I told myself that ‘Hey! I needed a break!’ That’s why when I was invited by Sun Life Financial for a Mom’s Day Out, I didn’t let the opportunity pass.

Right after the massage we went straight at Café Laguna for a delicious meal and a small talk where we were able to learn a lot of things from one of the speaker, Ms. Michele Alignay, a Family Life specialist.

During her talk about Balanced Motherhood, I had few realizations. Yes, she’s right about us mommies, who are Masters of Multitasking, as we tend to do a lot of things at once but still even if we’re doing a lot of things we still have that guilt. I often ask myself this question “Am I doing things the right way?” and then all of a sudden I worried too much. That’s why when I was listening to her; I began to realize that maybe I needed to Re-balance myself. As what Ms. Alignay said “a well-balanced mom has more to give to her family!”. I love how that talk inspires me and I’ve learned a lot of things, that being a MOM is not just being the Master of Multi-tasking but the Master of Myself. I need not to feel guilty whenever I choose to spend a little for a nice dress, nor to pamper myself whenever I feel exhausted because it’s also important that we give a little treat for ourselves.

To summarize the whole event, I had fun talking with my fellow mommy bloggers,  I enjoyed our 1 hour whole body massage and I learned a lot from the invited speakers. Though I get emotional when the new tv ad of Sun Life Financial was presented. It was exactly the same feeling that I felt having my daughter and being a single mother. I need to give what’s best for my child and good thing that sun life financial is there to help me in fulfilling that dream for my little dollie.
