An Enchanting Adventure!
A 2 hour drive away from the City of Cebu, lies a whimsical town called "Tuburan". It is a second class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. Tuburan got it's name through the abundance of springs, which are the sources of water. It is derived from the Cebuano word "Tubod", which means spring. I'm just giving you guys a short background of the place I visited last weekend. It was an unplanned journey and a quick getaway from all the stress from work and from school. I actually wanted to visit this town last year where my sister from another mother, my bff Chrissie grew up. I kept on asking her before to visit their town and keep on planning but nothing happened. Last Thursday, I told her that she's going home on weekend whether she like it or not (haha, I did convinced her though). I abruptly told her that I'm already prepared and excited to visit her hometown. Since, she can't do anything about it, she called her parents and told them that she's coming home with me. So for today, I will be sharing my 2 nights and 2 days whimsical experience as I explore "Tuburan".
One of the reason why I wanted to visit the place is the scenic view that I have missed already. I really love the fresh province air, the beautiful landscape, the breathtaking spring and the beautiful beaches that this town can offer. We actually rode a v-hire to reach the place but what excite me most is the motorcycle ride. yes! I love riding in the motorcycle, I just love how the wind blows on my face and it gives me a better view of the surroundings.
You thought I would be the one driving the motorcycle? nah! I can't even drive a bicycle, poor me:( but thanks to Marj, Chrissie's sissy, who drove the motorcycle for me. :) We actually arrived Friday evening, so they tour me around Saturday early morning. Our first itinerary is the "Dao Tree", It is the oldest and the biggest tree in Jagbuaya, Tuburan, Cebu. They told me an interesting story about this tree which I will also be sharing to all of you after I reveal the Dao tree.
Since my lovely tour guides are a little confused where this big tree was located, they have approached Mr. Farmer who brought his carabao along with him where the Dao tree was located. After manong magsasaka answered our question , I ran toward the carabao and asked them to took the photo for me. I know it's a little awkward, but I just can't let the opportunity passed, a City girl like me seldom sees a carabao.
Sorry but I have to include the other carabao at the back para naman may exposure din xa! lol. Right after the carabao shoot we hurriedly went down where the Dao Tree was located. Are you all excited to see this enchanted tree? Prepare yourself to be amaze! in 4,3,2,1.....
Dao Tree is also known as Dracontomelon dao, which is a tropical canopy tree that is distinguished mostly by it's height reaching up to 45 meters or 148 feet. Look at how big the trunk was measuring approximately 20 ft. high. There are plenty of Dao tree in the Philippines, but in Tuburan this is the biggest and the oldest Dao tree that was located along the Jagbuaya river. Aside from it's appearance, there is actually an enchanting story lies behind this tree. ) google translate
Moving on, right after visiting the Dao Tree, they brought me to their beautiful beaches for photo op only since I wasn't able to bring my swimwear with me.
Along the way, I can't help myself but to take a picture of the beautiful surroundings that I seldom see. This is the kind of surrounding that I wanted to have when I get old. Just like my mom, she wanted to have a house near the shore in a beautiful province like this. Nothing is as relaxing as this beautiful scenery.
We headed to the big rock of Lavida Resort for more photo op. :) Sulitin na! :)
Our journey for that day ended up at one of their bridges wherein the "TUBURAN" word is visible.
I'm excited for our itinerary the next day, that is to visit their little Baguio, to attend a mass at their church and to experience the molobolo spring which is the pride of Tuburan. I excitedly woke up early in the morning as we have to leave on the afternoon already. Exactly six in the morning I took a bath and I woke my friend Chrissie to accompany me in this journey. She showed me the little Baguio and the nearby shore along their house that was located at Barangay Poblacion I.
No wonder it is called the little Baguio for it gives you a nice and cold feeling. The ambiance made me feel at peace and at home. Too bad the area was secluded already.
The water was really inviting, I wish I can spend more time to stay there a little bit longer but I can't. We still have to go to the church to attend the mass.
Right after that we hurriedly went home to prepare for the 8:00 o'clock mass.
I love the design of the church, feels like I was in heaven because of the clouds and the angels. :)
I lit some candles to thank God for all the wonderful blessings he showered upon us and lifted up some prayers for my loved ones.
This is the front door of the church where most of the church goers prefer to use. It's actually the most accessible way in going inside. Our next and last stop would be at the Molobolo Spring. Right after lunch we asked Chrissie's dad to drive us at Molobolo spring.
What I wore:
Sisie's shirt
Robinson's Denim Shorts
Ipanema Slippers
Round Sunnies
what woman wants Yellow Bandanna
something borrowed: Denim sling bag
This is the main entrance of Molobolo Spring where you can see a spacious Parking area for all the tourist. I actually brought a swimming attire with me and I was a little disappointed seeing a large amount of people swimming on the spring. Instead of swimming, we just tour around the place for photo op.
A large amount of people had stopped me from taking a splurge but they wasn't able to stop me from taking photos.
Look at that! It was actually expected to see plenty of people that day since it was Sunday which means it's a Family Day.
I have to at least soak my feet onto the water to experience the spring. I promise myself that day that I will schedule a day to visit the place during slack season. It is much enjoyable if you spent a day swimming around with some few friends and relatives alone.
There are few cottages and videoke machine around that's perfect for a barkada/family outing. What's even nicer about the place is that along the spring, the water flows down to the sea. Isn't it great? Having two options to choose from! If you don't like the spring water you can dive into the beach.
I have totally enjoyed my stay at Tuburan, Cebu, Philippines. Not only did I visited the beautiful spots they have but I was able to meet my bff's family. They have welcomed me whole-heartily and made me feel that I am part of the family. I wasn't done exploring the wonders of Tuburan because I will be back to wander more.
